Zoom image | This brooch is based on the magnificent emerald set in the front of the British Crown of India. The crown was made for the crowning of King George V as Emperor of India in 1911 As the ceremony was held in Delhi, India, a new crown had to be made, as by an act of Parliament the British Crown Jewels cannot leave the shores of England.
The crown contains over 6,000 diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies and pearls.
The brooch is richly silver plated and set entirely with sparkling Austrian crystals. Fitted with a safety catch. Hand-made in England.
